France is using an unusual way to prevent the attempts at illegal border crossing into Great Britain. For months now, the area around the Euro Tunnel in the port city of Calais has no longer been controllable. Trucks are entered by hordes of Africans before the entrance to the tunnel that connects Great Britain with the mainland so that they can reach England illegally. The police is powerless against the rush and the unfettered will of the invaders to reach their destination (PI reported several times). Because the situation could no longer be gotten in hand, the marshland around the entry to the tunnel has now been flooded.
Until this, the seven meter tall fences all around the tunnel have not been able to protect the truck drivers from their at times extremely violent, unasked for freight. The reflooding of the swamp area that at one time had been dried out for the building of the tunnel should help.
The illegal camp of the asylum seekers, called the jungle, is finally to be cleared away and the invaders are to settle in a village of portable buildings. It is more than questionable whether the invaders who don’t feel bound to any law and order will give up their slum in direct proximity to the tunnel. Because even though France itself would grand them asylum, hardly any one of them wants to remain in the country.
